A Letter from the Editor

Allah ﷻ is our sole Creator, King, Sustainer, and Lord. He is the one who populated this
earth. He brings all people into this world in order and takes them away in order. There is no one
like Him, neither in essence nor in qualities. He is the Guide and He is also the Creator of the
avenues of guidance. He is the one who made the prophets عليهم السلام the means of guidance. He
sent 124,000 prophets from Adam عليه السلام until Muhammad ﷺ for the guidance of mankind. He
sent Muhammad ﷺ as the last of all the prophets with a comprehensive way of life which will
remain until the Day of Judgement. There will be no new way of life, and there is no need for a
new nabi (messenger) after him ﷺ, so no new nabi will be sent. He ﷻ sent Muhammad ﷺ as
the compendium of perfections, which is not in the power of any human being to enumerate.
Even a person of great intellect or a scholar does not have the power to encompass the moments
and incidents of his blessed life fully, let alone a regular person. A person has to contemplate
many times before writing his ﷺ seerah (biography) since this topic has countless aspects, and
caution must be taken with regard to it. Additionally, writing his ﷺ seerah from any angle is a
means of fortune. However, it is also a very demanding and delicate matter. When writing about
this topic, along with feelings of love and faith, research and caution are also necessary so that a
wrong attribution is not made to him ﷺ.

Despite these challenges, the lovers of the Prophet ﷺ and the bondsmen of the Prophet
ﷺ in all eras have written the blessed seerah according to their capabilities. This practice
continues today and will continue until the Day of Judgment. It is our responsibility to strive to
write something regarding this exceptional being since we have the honour of being from his
ummah (nation). This is the Nabi in whom the great qualities of all the other nabis are present.

An Arab poet has said:

لِكُلِّ نَبِيٍّ فِي الْأَنَامِ فَضِيْلَةٌ … وَجُمْلَتُهَا مَجْمُوْعَةٌ فِي مُحَمَّدٍ

For every nabi there is a blessing amongst creation, and all of them are enumerated in

Muhammad.

This Nabi has received a blessing and position amongst creation, in rank, prestige, height,
nobility, prosperity, and success. So, when the blessings, praiseworthy and beautiful qualities,
bounties, favours, honours, and patronage of all the prophets are arranged in a bouquet, that is a
bouquet in the truest sense. Muhammad ﷺ is the beloved of Aminah, the light of Abdullah’s
eyes, and the unique Makkan pearl who is the happiness of the creation, the intercessor of the
Place of Gathering, the reason for the universe, and leader of the messengers, prophets, pious,
warriors, and those who spread the message. He is the most elevated, complete, beautiful,
beneficial, naturally gifted, praiseworthy, inspired, glorified, purified, illuminated, beloved, the
most raised, and perfect nabi. That Nabi in whom is the manners of Adam عليه السلام, the
knowledge of Sheeth عليه السلام, the passion for spreading the message of Nuh عليه السلام, the zeal of
monotheism of Ibrahim عليه السلام, the altruism of Isma’il عليه السلام, the contentment of Ishaq عليه السلام,
the clarity of Salih عليه السلام, the wisdom of Lut عليه السلام, and the eloquence and articulate speech

of Shu’aib عليه السلام. He has the might of Musa عليه السلام, the beauty of Harun عليه السلام, the
submission and contentment of Ya’qub عليه السلام, the voice of Dawud عليه السلام, the patience of
Ayyub عليه السلام, the obedience of Yunus عليه السلام, the military prowess of Yusha’ عليه السلام, the love
of Danyal عليه السلام, the power of Ilyas عليه السلام, the beauty of Yusuf عليه السلام, the chastity of Yahya
عليه السلام, the asceticism and piety of Isa عليه السلام, and the political intelligence of Suleiman عليه السلام.
He is the one who is the subject matter of (And we have raised high for you your
name) (Surah ash-Sharh, 4). He is the being in whom all the perfections of the world are present,
yet his perfections are not present in anyone. This is the one whose grandeur we praise and write
poems about so that there is an increment in his praise and accolade. However, this has already
been done before. This is that being whose status will continue to rise in every coming moment
and whose rank will continue to rise due to the verse:

وَ رَفَعْنَا لَكَ ذِكْرَكَ. We write and talk about it so that our words have weight like an Arabic poem states:

مَا اِنْ مَدَحْتُ مُحَمَّدًا بِمَقَالَتِيْ … وَ لكِنْ مَدَحْتُ مَقَالَتِيْ بِمُحَمَّد

I did not praise Muhammad ﷺ through my words, rather my words were praised through [the

mention of] Muhammad ﷺ.

Even if I wash my mouth with musk, rose, and ambergris a thousand times, I will still find it

indecent to utter the Master ﷺ’s name.

It has been written regarding Allamah Anwar Shah رحمه الله that he did not utter the Prophet
ﷺ’s name without wudhu for his whole life.
The Al-Qasim newsletter has chosen to dedicate this issue to this blessed being and pure
life by writing about him in various ways, so that we, too, may be raised among his bondsmen on
the Day of Judgement and gathered with those who write his words of praise and his seerah.
May Allah accept our efforts and endeavours. Ameen.
